Will the new president bring good economy?

What do people think when giving a Vote?

Do they look for Future? or Just give votes by listening to Slogans?

What are the things that makes the winner?

Does shape and appearance of the polotician make him win?

Or do the Religion/ Sex/ Caste/ Race Makes the difference?

Or the people descide by the local representative?

How much money the Presidents are spending for winning the elections?

Wouldn't Hastur make the ideal DefSec? I mean, he's six hundred feet
tall, indestructible, and generally saves a lot of money on equipment
and training.

I'm not sure they could serve in the same administration. If Cthulhu
gets the White house, Sauron will likely rule in China, or perhaps
Russia, and vice versa. Or maybe he'd head the UN. He's a long range
planner, after all.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. As it says in the Necronomicon,
"That is not dead which can eternal lie / And with strange eons even
death may die."

Yeah, but then he took over the government of Numenor from within!
We could use that kind of cleverness in destabilizing hostile regimes
and establishing compliant puppet governments.

Reminds me of Dick Nixon after he failed to win the governorship of
California in 1962.

You have a point. OK, so if Cthulhu gets the Oval Office, where do
you see Sauron? Secretary of Defense, or the Interior? Or maybe
immigration? He was pretty good on border control. A few more like
Shelob patrolling along the Rio Grande and those wetbacks will think
twice.

Melkor? He spends so much time in chains you have to think he likes
it. I'm not sure the voters are ready for that kind of kink, even in
an eminence grise.

We can't go around believing sailor's stories! Anyway, Cthulhu was
dead at the time.

C'mon, earlier Sauron surrendered to Ar-Pharazon without a fight! And
later he left the field of battle (for two thousand years) because
some ruffian cut off a finger! Cthulhu could lose twenty tentacles
and not notice!

Yeah, that's one's not so bad. But then we have Lloigor and Shub-

True. But when you're backed by a Vala like Melkor, you have an
edge. If Sauron were elected President, Melkor would be his real boss,
like Dick Cheney.

> Cthulhu's got more power in his seventy third (from the left)

I dunno. The account by Johansen, skipper of the Alert, indicates
that Cthulhu could be stalled by such a minor inconvenience as the
propellor of a steam yacht. But with Sauron you had to go through ten
kinds of hell just to drop his ring in a volcano before he was
bothered.
I suppose they could have some kind of power-sharing arrangement.
For example in a Sauron administration, Cthulhu would be a natural for
Secretary of the Navy.

How dare you speak thus of Nyatharlotep! Why the name just rolls off
the tongue!

Please, Sauron is but a Maia, albeit one of the stronger ones.
Cthulhu's got more power in his seventy third (from the left)
tentacle.

LOL. I don't think Lovecraft ever gave a name to that hideously
guttural language in which Cthulhu and the other Elder Gods were
worshipped. Of all its words and names, I can recall offhand only one
that had any grace to it, Ithaqua, the wind god.

Speaking of greater and lesser evils, I've seen bumper stickers
saying "Sauron-Voldemort in 2008". Which prompts me to wonder: who has
the edge in a showdown between Sauron and Cthulhu?

Well, they think of what the candidate stands for and is likely to do.

So they figure that McCain stands for giving the terrorists a good
bonk on the head!

And they figure that Obama stands for making sure Americans have jobs!

So if the terrorists had managed an attack in the U.S. like the one on
September 11, 2001, McCain would have won.

Instead, the stock market crashed. So Obama will win.

They vote for whoever is most qualified to fix whatever problem is
most important.

Their strategy is close to being rational. Only the time horizon needs
to be fixed.

> Or the people descide by the local representative?

Not in the United States. They pick their Congressmen and Senators
independently of voting for President. So if there is a good candidate
for the House of Representatives who is Republican, but they want
Obama for President, they have no problem "splitting the ticket" and
voting for both of them. You are thinking of a Parliamentary system,
which is not what the United States has.

Yes. For example, bilateral symmetry is a must. Certain shapes, such

Well, so far no professed worshippers of Baal, Moloch,
