Subject: What would happen if President Bush declared Martial Law?
|
Rumors are starting to fly that President George W. Bush might suspend the elections and declare martial law, especially in face of an almost certain Obama sweep with the result of Bush spending the rest of hs life in jail. But, I wonder what would really happen. In Third World countries it often happens that martial law is declared. The king or some top general just declares martial law by saying "I declare martial law". What would happen if George W. Bush said that? Would the people just laugh at him? Would the people just say, "You can't do that" and go about their business. Would the courts have to rule? Or would Martial law actually go into effect, with police and the military petrolling the streets? Does anybody have any idea what would really happen? Sam Sloan

The most likely reason for a crisis severe enuf to have sheeple accept it would be a global run on the dollar, to the point where all the government would have to pay the troops to enforce this would be nice lithographs of dead presidents. They aint got gold. Look at the Collapse of the USSR; the red states, which had depended on contracts to supply an obsolete military industrial complex, where there were large factory farms and ethnically diverse populations... had the senior citizen pensions canceled, famine cause the agribusiness lost the infrastructure support, and demagogues arose to blame minorities, which resulted in genocidal warfare. But the NW coast Blue states, who didnt have the government contracts, had a homogeneous population with lotsa small farmers scattered between the lakes and forests, quickly reorganized; They thru out bureaucrats and the local farmers saw the local produce markets. The lights in Riga, Tallin, and Vilna didnt even blink. Mormons would move to Utah. Blacks to MS and AL; Hispanics to south FL and along the Mexican border. The Liberal Great Lake states would form an alliance with Canada. Last spring, when the Arkansas national guard could not respond well to tornado damage, the governor said the state was taking over the cost of equipping the guard, and that equipment could not leave the state without his consent. What the Arkansas National guard had before is all in Iraq. He has created a defacto state army. They have also cracked down on Hispanics and shut down the factories that hired them. If you look up the demographics, you find the Ozark counties are 99% white. That is also where the Fayetteville Shale gas field is, which already supplies 1% of the US natural gas. Those white people will want to use the gas themselves, and it aint hard to convert vehicles to run off the propane. Other states will likewise look at their own local resource base taking full control over whatever they have, and forcing out minorities, if for no other reason, than to keep them from being attacked by racist mobs. Machiavelli says republics work as long as the resource pie expands, but when that stops there is revolution to determine who gets the larger pieces of what is a smaller pie.

Since none of this has anything whatsoever to do with chess, why don't you confine it to the noisegroups or migrate over to Daily Kos with the rest of the nujobs?

If that really happens, then AIDS infected left-wing buttboys blood would flow in streets like a river as we'd start a mass execution. HASMET teams would be working 24/7 cleaning up the diseased blood. Harley
