If you want to get to the bottom of this (and I would hope that you
have no interest in covering it up) you could locate the two computers
Truong used while at your campus.

They have IP addresses of:

129.118.87.222
75.111.194.9

The first is definitely a Texas Tech University computer. The second
is attached to a Suddenlink Cable modem. Both computers are in
Lubbock, Texas and we would like to find out exactly where they are.

Good questions, thank you.

Brian Mottershead modified the joomla-bridge in such a way as to
capture the details of the logins on September 16, 2007. However,
Polgar and Truong took their seats on the board replacing me on August
4, 2007, so we do not have nearly as much detail about what happened
prior to September 16.

To demonstrate the difference, here are the last three logins from
"ChessPromotion" which is acknowledged to be Truong but could be Susan
as well, before the new bridge was set up and the first three after
the new bridge started working.

This also shows exactly what they are yelling and screaming about.
They are claiming that it was an "invasion of privacy" to capture and
preserve the IP address of these logins.

There were 192 logins on that one day alone, September 16, 2007.

The following morning at 8:00 AM was when the logins from the Texas
Tech IP address started. Here they are:

Just after that was when the User Agent strings and other data started
to be captured proving even more conclusively that Truong and possibly
Polgar were guilty of the Fake Sam Sloan posts:

All of the above data comes from the report:
chesspromotion-joomla-bridge.txt

Can you find any possible holes in this report?

Sam those are logs for the USCF forum, where there haven't been any fake posts.
Brian's fake-sam-sloan.txt does not have any instances of 129.118.87.222 so
could you provide a FSS USENET post that has that ip address in the
NNTP-Posting-Host header field? If not, there is still no evidence that a post
was made from the TTU subnet.

Is this supposed to be a formal Request for Production of Documents
from a defendant or what, exactly? And why would TTU be responsible
for any information related to Suddenlink, an independent commercial
cable provider in Texas? (For that, how about a subpoena/court
order?)

BTW, were any fake posts ever made from TTU? In Polgar's blogspot.com
blog, she quotes Mottleshead as saying:

""Snits is correct that I never found any evidence that there had been
any Fake Sam Sloan posts from a Texas Tech IP Address. In his lawsuit,
Sam said that there had been posts from a Texas Tech computer, a
little bit different than an IP address. When I asked Sam about this,
he seemed to think that it was possible that his version was true. I
wouldn't have put that in a lawsuit, but it is Sam Sloan's lawsuit."

You might want to do a search yourself in Brian's FSS log and see if
it is actually true that none of the fake posts originate from a TTU
IP address. Maybe Polgar misstated something in the blog quote or
maybe Brian overlooked something himself. Perhaps Brian didn't
capture all the FFS posts and someone here has them saved locally and
could search the initial digits of the TTU address string easily. In
your interrogatories to TTU and other defendants, specific questions
could address the issue of TTU (and USCF) computers that might have
been supplied for off-campus (and away from Crossville) usage. This
would go toward your respondeant superior liability theories. (The
above is merely a personal opinion and not legal advice. For that,
consult your own attorney. Also see Nolo Press for books on being a

Thanks! Just in case the two dozen law firms of varying sizes covering two
states and almost all areas of practice that I worked for over the last
twenty years missed something, those books will come in VERY handy!
