Subject: Possible USCF Benefit Event...
I was watching Mozart's "Don Giovanni" the other day. It occurred to me
that it would make a wonderful vehicle for raising money for our poor
struggling USCF. Perhaps some wealthy chess benefactor would finance
the production. The roles would be filled by costumed, lip-syncing
chess personalities.

I have some preliminary ideas for casting...

============================================
Don Giovanni -- > Paul Truong
(a young, extremely licentious & treacherous nobleman)

Il Commendatore (Don Pedro) -- > Brian Lafferty
(Murder victim & eventual executioner of Don G.)

Donna Anna -- > Donna Alarie
(Daughter of Don Pedro who seeks vengeance)

Don Ottavio -- > Bill Goichberg
(Donna Anna's betrothed -- an ineffective good guy?)

Donna Elvira -- > Susan Polgar
(A lady seduced & abandoned by Don Giovanni who foolishly still loves him)

Leporello -- > Gregory Alexander
(Don Giovanni's cringing servant & accomplice)

Masetto -- > Sam Sloan
(Country bumpkin, wants to kill Don G.)

Zerlina -- > ??
(Bumpkin's betrothed, a target of Don G.)

Chorus -- > USCF delegates, members
(Potential victims)
============================================

I wonder who should play Zerlina opposite Sam Sloan?? Such a production
sounds very interesting to me. I might even shell out a few bucks for a
DVD of it...
