Ah, yes, I see what you mean. From Wikipedia:

Cap d'Agde has a large family-style naturist resort.

The Village Naturiste is a large fenced-off part at the north-eastern
edge of Cap d'Agde, although it is accessible along the public beach
from the east. It is a self-contained town (although sometimes
referred to as the "Naked City"[1]), where nudity is legal and common
in the whole resort, including its restaurants and shops, day or
night.

Yes, this is true enough. My post was, however, meant somewhat in an
ironic tone of whimsy.

I was thinking of scenery rather more distracting than beautiful
mountains and forests.

The location of Cap d'Agde in France happens to be quite famous for
a... community... that is, as it turns out, in a separate area from
the city proper. So, as I noted, doubtless, the chess match was held
in the textile portion of the city.

John, in my experience, GM-caliber players are virtually oblivious
to scenery, so focused are they on chess. In recent years there have
been a few tournaments here in Vermont that attracted some fairly big
names: Akopian, Ehlvest, Bologan, Gulko, Shabalov, Yermolinsky,
Browne, Fedorowicz et al. They were held at the Stratton Mountain Inn,
a golf/ski resort which is surrounded by glorious Green Mountain
scenery. But for the GMs, the outside was just a place to have a
smoke. Otherwise they stayed buried in their games, either playing
them, post-morteming the last one, or preparing for the next one.

Further information on Google shows that the town is divided into two
parts, and doubtless the match is taking place in its textile half.

The name of the venue is vaguely familiar.

Between games, the players could enjoy the scenery; during them, it
might be distracting.

Go check out the US chess federation website..www.uschess.org. They
have the winning game there and you can be linked up to the tournament
web site. Hikaru Nakamura is his name.I remember going to his home
years ago when he was only 8.Played in a blitz tournament that night
and was COMPLETYED dominated by him THEN !!! I have known his step
father Sunil Weeramantry for years a pretty good player in his own
right.

I like playing at the Chess Mall , i just wish the other Mall , ( the
one i drive by every day to and from work ) had that set up because it
would be so much easier to stop in and play a game or two..

WOW , i was at the Cross Roads Mall today in Bellevue ..Seattle area ..
They have a chess board on the floor and large wooden chess pieces
and a clock and you can play chess. The food court area and there are
tables too where you can play .
There was about 20 kids between the ages of 7 to I7 playing and they
all had clocks and professional paper to write all their moves .
There was a Asian guy standing and watching so i asked him about the
kids and he said it was a chess class .....
So then i asked him if he saw any of the WCC and he did and then he
said is friend beat Ivanchuck today ..I said to beat him he must be a
top GM and the guy said he is ..That was basically the end the
conversation and now i just seen your post ..What a coincidence..

I played on the big board and i played well but not well enough ...I
lost ...You each get 30 min on your clock and winner can keep playing up
to 3 games if you win all three ....It is rare when i win , some of the
players must live in the area because they are regulars ...The guy who
played right before me beat me many months ago and i wanted him to win
so i could get another crack at him but he lost so i played the winner
and i lost . I go their about once every two months ...I used to go more
when i worked different hours ..

O and those kids had FIDE ratings of I,200 to I800 ELO .....I was
walking around watchng a few games being played and i do not think i
could beat any of them .....ha ha

I need to go look NAK up , he beat some powerful chess players .....
