Sanny, I have found that the GetClub program is getting tougher and tougher to beat. But it still is so weak in the pawn endings that I can, if need be, steer toward theoretically drawn endings with a strong expectation of easy victory. Of course, I don't do that because it is a bad habit to get into, and habits die hard. In one recent game I was a pawn down in a Queen and two Rooks ending, where my King was rather exposed to attack. I traded the Rooks off and entered a dead-drawn Queen ending, and the program -- because it was a doubled-pawn ahead -- refused to draw via perpetual check (say, threefold repetition of position). As always, the GC program kept its King near a corner, and ultimately this led to its demise. However, in the middle game I feel that I am no longer "in control" of matters; the program is becoming more and more dangerous, harder for me to handle. But it is no match for a commercial chess program like Fritz or Rybka-- not in any phase of the game. -- help bot
