Who knows this book: Israel Gelfer: 'Positional Chess Handbook. 495 Instructive Positions from Grandmaster Games'. Is it a good book? PW

I think it might assume too much background knowledge for players rated under about 1800; and I'd guess that IMs and GMs know all this stuff already. But for those of us in between, it's a very good book. Last time I looked it was available in an inexpensive Dover edition. -ed g. -- Caissa have mercy on a miserable patzer: http://altergoniff.blogspot.com

I don't have my copy here, but I've used it in the past and often turn to it for reference.
