Phil Innes posts a threatening letter to the New York Times: January 27, 2009 10:02 am I must object to NY Times reporting here on this issue - especially the strange formulations of Sam Sloan. What he says above is not true - I do not have a =91blog=92 but write for Chessville which has 60,000 unique hits per month as is #1 US based chess site. I am business manager and write a leader. I think my first major interview was with GM Mark Taimanov, and the most recent with GM Mickey Adams. Should NY TImes continue this practice of misreporting malicious gossip without attempting to verify factual material - and display such evident bias as this column exhibits of continuous speculation by litigants, then it will rather confirm its own standard and orientation. Since Gambit blog unashamedly continues to practice its policies this way, this itself becomes news, and a Chessville editor, an assistant attorney general, will be making his own evaluation and report. Amazing! Only a 13 year old could say that independent reporting is a threat. But actually, all other opinions than his own are attacks to the Sloan. But as we see, another hysteric, a stalker has picked up that I intend to take Manhattan, then I'll take Berlin. Worried? Why should anyone be worried? I simply said that independent reporting of the legal matter will take place, and a legal editor will conduct it. The rest of you yahoos are of course excited, but mostly hysterically so as usual. I do not preclude other action - and if NY Times continues to make comments without checking them and use the Sloan as their source, then that is their business with him, and their demonstrated standard, and maybe with me, but not with you all. You are all very busy as it is with the hysteria of the day. I see that the Sloan has already announced that 'I probably...' And Brennen is demonstrating his own hysterical appreciations - and indeed his stalking habits. Phil Innes PS: As for Mr. Kingston - Should he like to actually answer a straight question, then I will give a straight answer about the Kingston files.

Note that Phil Innes has made implied threats of violence against Neal Brennen and several other posters here in the past. He has probably threatened me too, but I have bigger people than Phil Innes to be concerned about. Sam Sloan
