Here is a short game with Rybka and Easy Level. Please analyze and let
me know if there is any mistake made by GetClub.
Rybka sacrificed its Rook for a pawn and after 8 ply it was forced
mate.

Black was already lost by move 11 (lack of development). Grabbing
pawns in the opening at the cost of development is simply bad
strategy, and no amount of calculation can make up for it. Instead of
5. ... Nxd4 (opening the e-file and exchanging off one of Black's few
developed pieces), the normal move is 5. ... Be7. Then after 6. Re1
Nd6 7. Bxc6, Black can choose between 7. ... dxc6 (leading to an
endgame with the two Bishops versus a better pawn structure) and
7. ... bxc6 8. dxe5 Nb7, with a solid pawn center but a very cramped
position. There is also the possibility 5. ... Nd6 6. dxe5 (of course
he can play the safe 6. Bxc6 instead) 6. ... Nxb5 7. a4, as occurred
in the famous game Halprin-Pillsbury. All of this can easily be found
in opening or beginners' books, and you really ought to look it up
before posting here.

But suddenly all pieces got exchanged and GetClub King was trapped and

Oh! side-splitting stuff - but wait, we see that alane's rustled up a
270 mover @ blitz time controls with no increment & also that mr.
nakamura is rated a paltry ~ 2700..
One need but close the eye to see young hikaru going @ it hammer & tong,
the play so ruthless, fast, furious & catachistic..
So going the worry-beads so conscious of play agin the ryb. that victory
is assured saving all mankind from the computer behemoth..

Well frankly I've heard about all this before but Rybka for examps. is a
new made-up name storming to 't front leaving all previous contenders -
chess challenger mint gold edge edition, crafty ver.6 azbh25.1o-eft
free.download, fritz - jaoel mien fuehrer und the evergreen chess genius
by r. lang - wallowing & for a thin man it's hard to wallow let me tell
you chaps..
So, playing to a guess let me suggest that rybka is scanda (aka
scandinavian) a consortium of reindeer herders carving knife-handles
from antler..

This is a good allusion or metaphorical reference to a cook chopping
carrots for a maestro which defines our bot living as he does in the

I'm a huge fan of the Japanese sourced iron-chef program on tv & am

und throggy oirish forearms really coming up with packed oyster und
miso/muse noodle - uh?..
Und I've reaquainted the rybka mythos (looks like the antlers of a deer)
und it's all good chaps - it's a check..

I will say Rybka.
A good while back, I played over a bunch of games
from one of those computer championships... and
only one program was able to keep from getting
beaten (by Rybka) like carrots: Zappa. After seeing
those games, I am inclined to "believe the hype",
and I don't see "3000+" as an exaggeration. Well,
now they have even faster processors -- quad core
and maybe even eight core -- and Rybka has been
improved further... and there is a Deep Rybka.
My friends, we are now ready for when the alien
ships arrive, threatening to destroy the Earth unless
we [i.e. Rybka] can beat them in a game of chess.
And if all else fails, there is still our invisible thread
trick... .

In this game Rybka was thinking 5-10 sec / move while GetClub Easy
Level was thinking 30-40 sec / move.
GetClub was thinking 6-10 times longer.

4. Showing up to play.
The games between GC and Rybka would be
a lot more interesting to "viewers" if the time
control was longer, and you started off with a
handicap to level the field a bit.
I think the recent improvements are sufficient
to nix my old recommendation of Rook odds;
now I would suggest Knight odds, with Rybka
being allowed to "think" just as long as her
opponent-- at least a minute per move.
