Hi folks I was looking at the Chess Informant website, in particular http://www.sahovski.co.yu/products/cipgn/latest.php?id=130 The offer looks quite good but I'm wondering whether the PGN format contains everything one would find on the printed volumes i.e. annotations, assessments, etc. Can the PGN content on the cd be read by software which doesn't come from Chess Informant itself? I don't have a specific programme in mind, I just want to make sure that the PGN content conforms to the standard and does not contain peculiarities which can only be understood by software coming from the Chess Informant people.

Ah, I seem to have sent my followup in email instead. Sorry. Anyway, it's very cheap--35 Informants, something like 20,000 annotated games, for $80. I bought it a few years ago, and I don't recall any problems getting SCID to read the PGN files. -ed g. -- Caissa have mercy on a miserable patzer: http://altergoniff.blogspot.com
