Subject: stop Frizt 8 flash screen

Hi, I just got Fritz 8. Everyone I run it, it starts with several seconds of a flash screen showing how nice the Viva Media icon is. Then it gives another screen with the option to run Fritz or connect to Playchess.com. How can I bypass all that nonsense and actually start Fritz when clicking on the Fritz icon? Thanks, Michael

I have Windows XP and it works..... Be sure to leave a space between the "blabla...Chessprogram8.exe" and the -engine For being sure you had put one, just put many spaces, so make it: "C:\Program Files\ChessBase\ChessProgram8\ChessProgram8.exe" -engine (Note that for an unclear reason, when i tried to put -engine after "blabla....8.exe" it put a " after the -engine so Windows indeed didn't accept the -engine". But when i corrected it by removing the " from the end it has accepted it.)

The '-engine' option does not seem to have any effect though. Thanks, Michael

To go directly to Fritz GUI and not have to click to choose going there he should do: In the shortcut form where he runs the program, in the properties tag, he should go to the "Target" and in the: "C:\Program Files\ChessBase\ChessProgram8\ChessProgram8.exe" he should ADD the -engine command. So the Target should say: "C:\Program Files\ChessBase\ChessProgram8\ChessProgram8.exe" -engine

with Fritz9 -login (i.o. -engine) starts a playchess session (not tested with Fritz8) "Les Lawrence" <[email protected] > wrote in message news:[email protected]... > >> Under the Shortcut tab, change the Target: to: >> "C:\Program Files\ChessBase\ChessProgram8\ChessProgram8.exe". >> (If you installed F8 to another disk and\or directory, adjust >> this line to match your installation.) Under the Shortcut tab, change the Target: to: "C:\Program Files\ChessBase\ChessProgram8\ChessProgram8.exe". (If you installed F8 to another disk and\or directory, adjust this line to match your installation.) Don't forget to enclose the entire Target line in ""s. Regards, John
