My son is Kamsky's best friend and he told me that Kamsky is done with chess. He hasn't won a tournament is ages and he is broke. We need to import more grandmasters from Russia. I vote to open up the borders so all grandmasters can defect to America. Sam Sloan

Checking Soltis' "The United States Chess Championship 1845-1996" I do not see a double round-robin tournament anywhere, just knockout and single round-robins.

Didn't he win the Mayors Cup .Just won the World Open and played First Board for the Bronze winning USA at the recent Chess Olympiad. It seems to me he took 2nd Place in the M-Tel Masters trailing only Topalov. If my memory is accurate he beat Anand in that event. Onischuk is very good.I know there is no interest for a Match between the 2 but I think Kamsky would hold his own. While the USA Championship has been a sucess I think it is time to get just the strongest 12 players and go for the Double Round Robin format as they did back in the day E-JAY
