Subject: Fritz on the MAC!
Last week I ordered a new PC (I have a Mac at work and a PC at home). Then
during the weekend I saw the Apple announcement that they had a program to
run windows on Intel Macs. I immediately cancelled my order for the PC and
ordered a new MAC.

As soon as it arrives, I will load Fritz9 on it and I hope that it works...

Be aware !
To run Windows XP under a MAC you need to buy a MAC with a INTEL
processor...
MACs with powerpc processors won=B4t run windows...

That's why he said "that they had a program to run windows on Intel Macs".
IIRC there are also emulators for PowerPC processor powered Macs, and it
might be that someone managed to run Fritz in that way already - athough I
never heard a success story.

I have two reports from Intel Macs users: both CB9 and Fritz9 works fine.

As I mentioned on another thread today, my Intel Mac runs Fritz analysis
twice as fast as my P4 PC with a 2 GHz processor.

I also play Personal Chess Trainer and T Art 3.0 on the Mac - no problems.

It seems that it can run almost any Windows program, - I am playing
Oblivion these days, which won't run on my PC, probably because the
Radeon 8500 video card has only 64 bits and the program requires 128 (The
Intel Mac has a Radeon SX1600 video card).

So far I am very happy with my new Mac/PC.

Just an addition: this has little to do with the OS or processor, but with
the choice of hardware. A PC comes with the hardware you choose.

My guess is that the game needs 128MB video memory, and the Radeon 8500 has
64MB onboard video memory; I don't think the 8500 has 64 bit memory bus,
AFAIK it has a 128 bit bus. A video card with a 64 bit memory bus is _very
low_ budget these days.
