If willing to build high-end computer with good chess strength, is the way to go with new-coming core 2 duo processors or AMD FX. Is there tests with core 2 duo showing its strength in chess engines?

In benchks Core 2 Duos are against fx-62, don't fxs also have AMDs best integer&floating operations throughput - I'm looking for fx vs core 2 duo expectancy as it comes to chess performance, can it be directly compared as integer throughput of these processor, for instance.

There is a Dual Core FX available right here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103608 The FX is an enthusiasts processor, and I expect that it will make little difference to a chess engine. The priy advantage for an FX process is likely to be with multimedia applications. -- Thomas T. Veldhouse Key Fingerprint: 2DB9 813F F510 82C2 E1AE 34D0 D69D 1EDC D5EC AED1
