Does anyone have the dates of the 1998-9 and 1999-2000 Hastings
Congresses? I'm more interested in the dates they finished.

Also can anyone tell me how to send chess games by e-mail? I gather
there is a special format; I want something more than Forsyth notation.

Thanks

Hi.

Check TWIC for Hastings details:
http://www.chesscenter.com/twic/twicp1.html

PGN is the standard for game notation. Here is an example of .pgn notation:

[Event "Simul"]
[Site "Barcelona ESP"]
[Date "2002.06.19"]
[Round "1"]
[White "Kramnik,V"]
[Black "Eguia,I"]
[Result "1-0"]
[WhiteElo "2809"]
[EventDate "2002.06.19"]
[ECO "C78"]

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. O-O Bc5 6. d3 d6 7. c3 Bb6 8.
Nbd2 O-O 9. h3 Be6 10. Re1 Ne7 11. Nf1 Ng6 12. Ng3 c6 13. d4 Qc7 14. Bg5
Nd7 15. d5 Bxh3 16. gxh3 f6 17. Bd2 Nc5 18. Bc2 Qd7 19. Kh2 cxd5 20. Be3
Qf7 21. Qxd5 Qxd5 22. exd5 Ne7 23. Nd2 Nxd5 24. Bxc5 Bxc5 25. Bb3 Kh8 26.
Bxd5 Bxf2 27. Re2 Bxg3+ 28. Kxg3 Rab8 29. Ne4 f5 30. Nxd6 f4+ 31. Kf3 Rbd8
32. Nf7+ Rxf7 33. Bxf7 Rd3+ 34. Ke4 Rxh3 35. Rd1 g6 36. Rd7 f3 37. Rf2 Rh4+
38. Kxe5 Rh5+ 39. Ke4 Rh4+ 40. Kxf3 1-0

You can get something like WinBoard for example a free program that will
read pgn
and also create pgn files from moves you input by hand if you wish:

Hope this helps,
Duncan

Do you really exist? Take a long walk off a short pier in any case.

Use Standard Algebraic Notation; it is human readable and can be
imported into almost any chess program.

I have posted the standard at: <http://cfaj.freeshell.org/chess/SAN/ >.
