Subject: epd format spec ?
Greetings. After 1. e4 we reach the position

rnbqkbnr/pppppppp/8/8/4P3/8/PPPP1PPP/RNBQKBNR b KQkq e3 bm 1; id 1;

What's all that "b KQkq e3 bm 1; id 1;" stuff at the end ?
"b" presumably means Black to move,
"e3" presumably means that Black could capture en-passant on e3,
no-yet-castled information must be in there somehow ...

Is there a URL or an RFC which defines epd ?

The specification for the EPD format is in the pgn standard.
You will find it many places on the net, I use this site:
http://www.very-best.de/pgn-spec.htm
You find the EPD section under 16.2.

There is two errors in your line.
1. bm (bestmove) should be a valid move.
2. id takes a string value so correct is: id "1";

Excellent, thank you. And there is a direct link to Section 16.2 at
http://www.very-best.de/pgn-spec.htm#16.2

Hmm; my line was a product of GNU Chess 5.07's "epdsave" command ...

KQkq is the castling information. Both black and white can castle both
kingside and queenside. The capital letters are for white. The lowercase
for black.

No idea about the bm 1; id 1 bit, though.
