I don't understand why Topalov doesn't play 1.e4 against Kramnik? This move will be better since it gives him more opportunity to win than d4. Plus d4 is harder to win against Kramnik with. Fischer even said that e4 is "best by test."

Comparing various lines where White wants a sharp game but Black's content with a draw, 1.e4 leads to the Petrov (34.5% wins), 1.c4 leads to the Symmetric English (35.8% wins), and 1.d4 leads to the Slav (37.2% wins). The Slav might be his best shot! --- likesforests Become a Chess Expert - http://likesforests.blogspot.com/

In article <[email protected] >, "Zero" <[email protected] > wrote: > Plus d4 is harder to win against Kramnik with. Nonsense. Kramnik might defend the Ruy Lopez better than anybody else in history. And if he doesn't want to play that, he can play the Petroff, which is very drawish. > Fischer even said that e4 is "best by test." Right. So it must be true.

Maybe Topalov prefer to avoid them

Probably because he doesn't want to face Kramnik's Berlin Wall . . . Zero wrote: > I don't understand why Topalov doesn't play 1.e4 against Kramnik?
