I have the Karpov series. When I can't sleep, I watch them. One of these
days (or nights), I'll stay awake long enough to finish an entire tape.

I've got his "Transition to the Middle Game" DVD, and think it is excellent.
It is true that the production values are poor - but his explanations are
very good (he is a strong GM, after all) and his choice of games is
well-considered too.

The production values are low, but the chess content is generally good.
One caveat: the DGT board he uses is wired to a monitor display which
is wont to place the same piece on two adjacent squares, so the same
bishop might appear, say, on both f4 and g5.

It's necessary, therefore, to have your wits about you when he's
discussing complex subvariations or ideas.

If you think you can cope with that, then it's up to you to decide
whether or not you think the subject matter is worth the investment.
