The Higher Chess level takes more time but they are hard to beat. http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html Now the Advance levels are also available to play for free. I would like to know the Rating for the Beginner & Easy levels. And also for Normal & Advanced Levels. So that I know how good I am playing. I am playing with the Computer and want to know what level of play the moves are. http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html I hope now everyone like playing this Chess game. Beginner as name suggest is very simple. Easy is for average player. Normal is for Good Players http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html Advance Level is very good but it takes lot of time so very difficult to win. Play it only if you have good time. Bye Sanjay.

The Normal level doesn't even work properly, it became slower and slower, eventually taking aaaaages per move. 1 min/move certainly is not true. I tried playing it as white: 1.Nf3 Nc6 2.d4 e6 3.e4 Bb4+ 4.c3 Bd6 5.e5 Be7 6.Bd3 f5 7.exf6 e.P. Bxf6 8.Bf4 g5 9.Nxg5 Ke7 10.Sd2 I got this far, but now the computer just stopped playing (the output window still said it was thinking about 10...Bxd4). > I am playing with the Computer and want to know what level of play the > moves are. > > Beginner as name suggest is very simple. > Easy is for average player. > Normal is for Good Players Beginner, Easy and Normal all play worse than the weakest rated player (about 1000 DWZ) I've played against so far. Particularly any such player has more strategic understanding than this program. So I think I can only put an upper limit on its playing strength, but no lower limit (after all the rating scale is open to both sides, although I don't think I've ever seen a player with a negative rating). Just to further illustrate my point (me as black on Easy): 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5 Ne4 3.Bf4 c5 4.Bxb8 Rxb8 5.d5 Qb6 6.Qc1 c4 7.Nh3 d6 8.Rg1 Bxh3 9.Qf4 Qxb2 10.Kd1 Qxa1 11.gxh3 Qxb1+ 12.Qc1 Nxf2+ 13.Kd2 c3+ 14.Ke3 Qxc1+ 15.Kxf2 Qxc2 16.Kg3 Qd2 17.Kg4 g5 18.Kg3 Qe3+ 19.Kg2 c2 20.h4 c1=Q 21.a4 Qe1 22.g5 Q1f2 23.Kxf2 And it even plays an illegal move (23.Kxf2) in the end.

The program plays like a total beginner who knows the rules (apart from en passant) and knows not to push edge pawns early in the game but that's about it.
