Who is Susan Polgar? I keep seeing her in every single issue of Chess
LIfe. Is she the current world champion and has she beaten Gary
Kasparov, Kramnik, Anand, Leko, etc. before? Why is there is much
coverage about her in every single issue? Is she really good at chess ?

It's a fair point, but I'd also suggest it's pretty normal discourse to
encounter linguistic short-cuts when the meaning is clear. Besides the
fact that the original question dealt with why Susan Polgar would
appear so often in Chess Life -- the official magazine of the United
States Chess Federation -- the simple fact remains that nearly all the
conversations about chess governance of late have been about the USCF.
I can't recall a single thread about, say, the BCF, or the Chess
Federation of Canada, or the Russian Chess Federation, etc.

There is an occasional discussion of FIDE, although even here it often
has a US perspective -- i.e., should the USCF support its current
leadership, etc.

Seeing as how the original poster mentioned seeing Polgar in Chess Life
magazine, which is the official magazine of the US Chess Federation,
it's a pretty safe assumption that this thread is about chess in the
USA.

Firefighters are paid to put out fires. Susan Polgar is paid to
promote chess. There's a HUGE difference between sponsorship and
enjoying your work. Some people like their jobs; some don't. If you
HAD a job or GOT paid, you might understand this.

Bottom line: The fact that Susan Polgar loves her job doesn't make her
some kind of corporate lackey. And that wasn't even a very good spin
on your part, Gordy. Try harder next time.

Roberts should run for the board next year.

Who does more from an integrity of personality and active good works than 30
paid persons at USCF, and achieves some 50 mainstream media notices per year
whereas USCF achieves 2.
