GetClub Chess is being praised by everyone. Now even those who use to
say it is weak are praising it after playing it.

Have a look: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html

I am happy that my programmers have removed all obstacles in the game.

Now it plays too fast as well as make best moves.

Those players who think they are still stronger than GetClub Chess,
show me the recorded games So that I can see how they loose to my
Program.

Still I feel there are 5 players who can still beat GetClub Chess and
they are

1. Nomorechess
2. Chrisf
3. Bob
4. Taylor Kingston
5. Zebediah

For other players they have to loose even with beginner Level, Ha Ha
Ha I am so happy with my program that I can't say.

You were supposed to challenge my claim that
somebody good at chess told me about this! Ask
me who, and demand to see proof. Clearly, I can
not know this apart from "outside information". : >D

Right now, I am in a tough endgame at RedHotPawn
where I overlooked a strategy by my opponent. I got
caught up in keeping my winning chances (barely)
alive and now I think he may be able to get connected
passers (gulp) in a Rook ending (yikes) where of
course, a decent player must have informed me that
Rooks are very clumsy in stopping two of those
pawn thingies. Not so many moves ago, I was
looking at a position where I had the initiative and if
I had only knuckled down then, I wouldn't be losing
now. Grrrr.

Here is where I believe Steinitz used to play the
defensive move, ...Ne7. Also reasonable was ...Bd7.

Sanny, this is hardly a sacrifice; in fact, it is
all book -- apart from the little diversion afforded
by inclusion of ...Bg4 and h3.

> ... Nxe4
> 8. R-e1 a6

This move obviously hangs a piece. Why not
try ...d5 instead? Keep the e-file closed, and
loose the pawn on e5 instead. The point is very
simple: Black's KING is on the e-file! The King
is sort of important in chess, or so I've heard. ; >D

> 9. Bxc6 Bxc6
> 10. d5 Nxf2
> 11. Kxf2 B-d7

The further course of the game shows that
neither player was any chess genius, but the
program, despite having a lost game, might have
put up a bit more fight by cautiously advancing its
pawn majority while being careful not to needlessly
create any holes, such as the one it made on d4,
for instance. The idea is to fork or trap one of the
*many* White pieces, should he become careless.

Sanny, if the Master level cannot calculate for
itself the consequences of the tactical skirmishing
here, it is hopeless. Use the standard "check and
capture" extensions, whereby the program looks a
bit deeper until it finally comes to a quiet position.
If your team can implement this standard technique
correctly, the program will almost never hang a piece
like it did here. Only when it has mastered the
obvious, so to speak, do you need to worry about
positional play.

> For that how deep the Master Level should see?

It need not see anything but simple tactics in order
to improve kedly on this fiasco.

Wrong! All that shows is that, just like the
program, the winner was *also* a putz. Just
kidding. Funny thing is, a day or two ago I
had a choice between winning a piece for a
pawn and leaving everything on, or trading
down to a won ending. I chose the ending,
and immediately overlooked losing the
exchange. Oops! So now I am at around
move forty-something, with a long row to
hoe before I can hope to convert. That is at
RedHotPawn, not GetClub, but the point is
not simply how quickly you win, but cutting
risk by simplifying to where the win is more
certain is an effective weapon of the strong
player. How would I know this, you ask?
Well... somebody good must have told me!

Despite game becoming strong I find Chrisf beating master level like
carrot.

Here is a game between Master Level & Chrisf. Can anyone suggest where
was the mistake?

Chrisf: White
Master: Black
Played at: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html

1. e4 e5
2. N-f3 N-c6
3. B-b5 d6
4. 0-0 B-g4
5. h3 B-d7
6. c3 N-f6

Everything was Ok till this point now Chrisf gave a sacrifice.

7. d4 Nxe4
8. R-e1 a6
9. Bxc6 Bxc6
10. d5 Nxf2
11. Kxf2 B-d7
.....
.....
Recorded Game: http://www.getclub.com/playgame.php?id=DM6682&game=Chess

And Chrisf was a Knight up for two pawns. How could Master Level
played So that it had avoided it.

For that how deep the Master Level should see?

Sanny, there is no sacrifice involved here. This falls under the
category of "if something's attacked, defend it."

If your computer can't see that moves like ...a6 lose, then there's
really no hope for it. Crafty, for example, realizes it has to defend
the knight so quickly that I can't even tell you how long it takes. half
a second? a third of a second?

There is something seriously, seriously wrong with your program if it
can't calculate simple tactics in a few seconds.

Well this game played today at beginner level looks pretty poor - the
program leaves a piece en prise at move 5..

But if you hadn't played like that, the engine would probably not have done
that.
So in fact it could very well be your fault the engine doesn't play at the
claimed elo-level. ;-)

You need to be concerned with beating hundred line programs before

Please quit spamming these news groups. Your ratings are meaningless
since you've made them up. Writing a program that plays stronger
than 1900 Elo is not difficult. Basic programs can do it while
thinking a couple of seconds per move. Here are some links that
I'm sure you will not make use of:

I would not rate your program that high.

It still takes forever to make moves and that was today.

It is not "faster" or "ster". It makes dumb moves.

I would rate it:

Beginner: 800
Easy: 1000
Normal: 1100
Master: 1300

I'm convinced he's doing Ph.D. research relating to dealing with rejection
or wasting people's time.

He likes to pat himself on the back a lot.
Maybe he should be in politics, instead of computergames. ;-)

Its his constant Spamming that keeps people away. That and
the moronic web design of his site. Getclubbed is the
LAST place I would ever play chess. If I want to play a
game vs a weaker engine I would fire up fritz and lower it
to about 1600 playing strength.
