Surely that game is just a blatant win for black? Any reasonable assessment should obviously result in the conclusion that white is completely lost being lots of material + 1 queen down.

It certainly beat me like carrot in the following miniature: [White "SannyBot"] [Black "Zebediah"] [Site "getchess.com"] [Result "1-0"] 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. Bxc6 dxc6 6. Nc3 Bd6 7. d4 Nd7 8. Bg5 f6 9. dxe5 Nxe5 10. Nxe5 Bxe5 11. Qxd8 mate!?!? Another bolt from the blue! I had intended to respond 11... Kxd8, but Sanny's program eliminated that possibility by throwing up a pop-up window reading "You are checkmated. Ha ha ha!" and then resetting the board, leaving me without a reply. > Do not play with higher levels Yes, that's what I think too. Zeb

That's *three* posters who think Sanny's program needs to clock-out and make a move, some time this century even! Your game utterly SUCKS ASS!!! It needed 1.5 hours to think up a bunch of terrible moves. It moved its king from b8 to c8 and back like 5 times after which it moves it to a7 only so it could start moving its rook from a8 to h8 a couple of times. Furthermore, it didn't feel like resigning after I had a queen, a rook and two pawns agaisnt his lonely king. It only surrendered after I was one move away from making a second king. So again, please shoot yourself or--which is the next best thing--just never post here again anymore... ever!!

K+R vs K is a mate in at most 15 moves or so; K+Q vs K needs at most 10 or so moves from the worst possible start point. > It only surrendered after I was one move away from making a second > king. Although, in many cases, it is very useful to have a second king as a backup in case the first one gets checkmated, when your opponent has only a king, your first king is in no danger. Therefore, it's better to promote to a queen. :-) Dave. -- David Richerby Generic Aluminium T-Shirt (TM): www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~davidr/ it's like a fashion statement that's really light but it's just like all the others!

We are still playing now!! Although i'm way too lazy to bother noting everything down. We are down to a rook/rook endgame with pawns. i still have 5 pawns left, my oppponent 3. And his last five or so moves were: Kc8-b8-c8-b8-c8... That says enough, doesn't it? I'm not advocating ignorance but there are better things to spend your time on as a beginner. > and that knight move just doesn't look to great. Agreed. If you really know what you're doing, it's OK but it's best avoided by beginners and it isn't thought good enough to play at the highest level. (That said, Fischer obtained a win and a draw with it in games 13 and 19, respectively, of the 1972 World Championship match against Spassky.) Well, in this case it probably does say enough but there is the slight possibility that all the computer's pieces are already in the right place. For example, in the position White: Kc6, Pc5 (to move) Black: Kc8 FEN: 2k5/8/2K5/2P5/8/8/8/8 w - - 0 1 it's perfectly possible that Black's last moves were Kc8-b8-c8 etc. and were correct: 1.Kb6 Kb8! 2.Kc6 Kc8! 3.Kc6 etc. Dave. -- David Richerby Expensive Spoon (TM): it's like a www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~davidr/ piece of cutlery but it'll break the bank!

hmmm, I played White at beginner level: 1.e4 Nf6 2.e5 Nd5 3.d4 d6 4.Nf3 dxe5 5.Nxe5 Qd6 6.Bc4 c5 7.Qf3 Even for the beginner level, you need a lot of time, 'cause it sure takes your program long to think up a move.
