Is there anyone here that uses a mac os x? It does not seem to be any decent software for the plattform! What is the closest thing I can get to Fritz and Chessbase on Mac os x?

Hm, switching the monitor into b/w-mode? ;). Within the scid environment you will find some humble *color* options concerning the board layout. Just in case, you might find the scidforum on the web at <http://newscid.proboards29.com/ > > Can I also change fonts on xboard? No idea. Guess the appropriate group concerning your questions is just next door; therefore I crosspost this to rec.games.chess.computer. fup2 set. -- regards Andreas

They also relies on X11 and Fink in order to install, however, and I would rather not use that option. I like it simple.

I like it simple. But I guess I just have to learn a bit Unix. Thanks for the tip!

Don't know what the time scale is - these things always take longer than you think they will - but maybe December for PC Hiarcs-10 and Mac version early in the New Year we hope. Cheers... Eric Thank you very much for the answers! Hiarcs for os x would solve my problem. Eric, as an editor of `selective search` you are a very credible source of information. Still I fear... Because there is no information about it on the Hiarc homepage and they have a link to Sigma Chess there to (a competitor). Perhaps he change his mind? Sigma Chess is nice, but, yes, it is no Fritz... or Hiarcs.
