Hi, I have a question. If I play in a USCF rated tournament, and let's say that my opponent decides to use the bathroom during the game. Am I allowed to file a complaint that my opponent might be cheating? The reason I ask is that Topalov (a super GM) filed the same complaint in the world championship. Doesn't Topalov's action have precedent over anything that happens in the whole world?? If the TD tells me that nothing is happening, can't I then file a complaint to the USCF? I think we should have TDs follow players into the bathroom. If the player is going to use the stall, then maybe the TD should go in there with them to make sure that they are not cheating. Just a thought.

If he visits the same stall 50 times during a game it should be obvious that he is either very sick, or he has some reason other than for relieving himself. I think that is the crux of Topalov's complaint. (Although I disagree in the manner in which he made his complaint public). Even at this relatively meager payout of half a million dollars each, I think we should expect the players not to create even the slightest suspicion that they are doing something unethical. For $40,000 a game players could reasonably be expected to remain on stage at all times, except to go to the bathroom. Because it is so easy to cheat these days, security for the bathroom should be as tight as possible. I don't know exactly how to secure it appropriately though. According to Topalov's team, Kramnik used the bathroom (toilet, restroom, whatever) 50 times. If your opponent used the bathroom 50 times during the game, then it would be "suspicious" as well. What would be really suspicious ( and against the rules ) is standing up when it is your turn to move AND go to the bathroom. When it is your turn to move, you are supposed to move AND then you can go wherever you wish. Kramnik anyway didn't break any rule. But he had a private bathroom, and other people went in there too, so maybe, just maybe, someone dropped there tips or electronic devices. You are probably not going to have your private bathroom during USCF tournaments, so this is not going to be an issue. Regards Diego Amicabile Zero wrote: > Hi, > > I have a question. Unless his prostate gland is the size of a watermelon, which at his age is unlikely, anything more than 4-5 times during a 6 hour game, to me, is suspicious.
