Greetings. What are the best books on the Catalan ? I know of, but don't have: Winning with the Catalan, Dunnington, Batsford Katalanisch, Raetzki, Kania Any others? I speak German, so Kania is fine for me from that point of view. It's not just because of the current "1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.g3 Nf6" tournament http://www.fcde.org/circulars04/circula_40.htm :-) -- Regards, Peter Peter Billam, DPIWE/ILS/CIT/Servers, hbt/lnd/l8, 6233 3061

The Raetsky/Chetverik book on the Catalan has been published in English by Everyman Chess. I have a copy of this book and think highly of it. It consists of 95 complete annotated games, and includes many beautiful positional struggles. For a positive review of the book you might want to check out the Seagaard site; more specifically: http://www.seagaard.dk/review/eng/bo_opening/ev_the_catalan.asp?KATID=BO&ProductID=320&ID=BO-Opening&PUBID=EV&AUTID=86 - Geof Strayer

Nieshtadt Play the Catalan Volume 2 Closed Variation - Y. Nieshtadt The first volume deals with ...dxc4 lines. The second volume delas with lines where Black doesn't play ...dxc4 A more recent book that I have is: The Queen's Gambit & Catalan for Black - Lasha Janigara As the title suggests this covers the Catalan from Black's point of view. BTW: You should able to find review of these and other books by using google to search on "Catalan" "book" "review".
