Which book about Boris Spassky is the best? The Spassky section in
Kasparov? Soltis? Cafferty? Someone else?

I don't believe that he has actually written one himself.

Thanks.

Very little of that book is written by Spassky -- it is almost all
van Reek, and it is a *very* bad book. I refer interested readers to:

There is a book by Spassky himself, with Jan van Reek, called "Grand
Strategy - 60 Games by Boris Spassky". I am the lucky owner of an
autographed copy of this not very easy to find book. All are commented
and it covers all of Sparssky's career. The year the book was
published is 2000.

Thanks for the info re the dates of the games covered. That would have
been a disappointment when it arrived.

The main drawback today of the books by Andrew Soltis
and Bernard Cafferty about Boris Spassky's games is
that their coverage had to stop (given when those books
were written) before Spassky's 1972 match with Fischer.
Although GM Andrew Soltis is a stronger player than
Bernard Cafferty, I regard Cafferty's book as better
because it has more of Spassky's games (100 > 70)
and Cafferty writes more detailed annotations.

"Boris Spassky's 400 Selected Games"
by Sergei Soloviov is a good choice.

If you can read Russian, then you may consider
"Boris Spassky" (two volumes) by
Krogius, Golubev, and Gutsait.

As far as I know, that's true.
