I need your opinions. Besides the great 1953 Zurich Candidates by Bronstein, what other annotated collection is worthwhile getting? Is there anything close to Bronstein?

Yea, I had that book. It's way too expensive now. Not even the libraries have them because people steal them to sell on Ebay. I'm surprised no one's mentioned Tarkatower and Dumont's "500 Master Games of Chess". What do you all think of that one? --Richard

I noticed when I opened Ray Gorden's message, my outlook express gave me the warning that is was trying to access my email messages. Good suggestions all I would add Grandmaster of Chess: The complete games of Paul Keres. and Tal's book on his match with Botvinnik. Besides the great 1953 Zurich Candidates by >Bronstein, what other annotated collection is worthwhile getting? I would also recommend: Mammoth Book of the Worlds Greatest Chess Games - Burgess et al How Karpov Wins - Mednis Test Your Chess with Daniel King - King Understanding Chess Move By Move - Nunn Instructive Modern Chess Masterpieces - Stohl Masters of the Chessboard - Reti Garry Kasparov's Greatest Chess Games vol 1 - Stohl And Kasparov's series looks great, but it also looks like a lifetime commitment. Kmoch's book on Rubinstein contains few (and sometimes poor) annotations, but the games themselves are fantastic. I was disappointed by Reinfeld's book on Capablanca's games. Sergeant's annotations does not do justice to Morphy's games. If I had to narrow it down, I'd suggest the Burgess, the Nunn, and the Reti.

Some guy named Fischer wrote about sixty games of his that he found memorable. "John J." <[email protected] > wrote in message news:[email protected]... > Thanks, PK. He didn't forget them at all. They'd already been published in another book, the name of which I don't recall. Alekhine's two volume set (Dover has it now, maybe in one volume) of "My Best Games" is pretty good too.
