Look, if it's that fellow from Nigeria again,
tell him I don't want any more money-- I've
got too much of the stuff now! Tell him to
get with Sanny and transfer the funds into
his account-- mine is full-up and overflowing.

There was something about him needing
to make a test-transfer of only a few dollars,
to see if my bank information was correct...
but then, somehow, his keyboard
malfunctioned and kept sending "transfer
funds" endlessly, over and over. Anyway,
if he ever gets to America, tell him to look
me up. Right now I've got to contact a
Mr. Paulson and a Mr. Bernanke, who are
in dire need of my help to bail out a sinking
ship named "Ekonomie".

Sanny I know of a large benefactor of chess who wants to leave
GetClub.com a sizeable bequest in their will. We're talking about
potentially hundreds of millions of pounds. Who should that rich
person name as the beneficiary? Should they write the check to you,
Sanny, or to GetClub.com? Remember this is for the good of the
children, and so forth.

In that case, I will be playing Baby level or
taking Knight or Rook odds. I hate losing.

Comrade, we are the finest chess players
in all the world, but what are we going to
do about the American, this young Bobby
Fischer? You saw what happened when
our Titan, our champion, comrade Botwinnik
played him last year. If only comrade Tal
were still Tal! If only we could melt two or
three of our best players down, and pour
them out into a single mold... maybe he
will chicken out? Maybe he will refuse to
play our comrades Petrosian and Spassky?
Maybe we could start a nuclear war-- then
there could be no chess match? We will
keep the title "forever"... .

It seems to me that White has thrown away
a tempo by first playing p-d3 to defend the
e-pawn, and then p-d4. Having the first move,
this does not amount to very much though.

After exchanging Queens and Knights, the
Black King is "comfortable" in the center.

White could have avoided this annoyance
by playing p-h3.

> 15. Rd1-d3{52} Ra8-d8{26}
> 16. Ra1-c1{42}

Ugly. White still had p-h3 or simply Kf1,
which covers e2 and unpins the f2 pawn.

> ... Rd8-d3{30}
> 17. Bc4-d3{22} Rh8-d8{6}
> 18. Bd3-c2{38}

Even here, White still could try p-h3 rather
than getting sliced-up by *both* of Black's
Bishops, plus his Rook. If Black replies by
sacrificing his hanging Bishop on h3, White
can reply in kind by sacrificing his on a6.

Leaving the back rank is not good, for
there may be dire repercussions due to
threats of back-rank mate.

> ... Be2-d3{30}
> 24. Nc4-e5{36} f6-e5{18}

White was lost.

> 25. Rf5-e5{48} Ke7-d8{20}
> 26. Bb3-a4{62} c7-c6{26}

This position is instructive; note how even
the "correct" defense, 27. Bb3, allows the
clever repost ...Bb1!, exploiting the back-
rank mate theme to snare another pawn--
either a2, or e4.

> Was there any wrong move by Easy Level?

Let's see... Easy level had White, and lost.
So, um, what does that tell us? I know! It
tells us that Easy /must/ have made at least
one mistake, somewhere.
